How to Read the Creeds

An Introduction to the Church’s Creeds and Confessions

Related to the “Ask Us Anything” sermon series, we’ve gotten several questions about the creeds, in particular questions like “Why did they change the words of the Apostles’ Creed?” So, if you miss saying all the “thees” and “thous,” and “quick and the dead” (do the slow not get judged?!), come to the middle hour adult ed offering this summer.

We will meet on July 13, 27, and August 3, 10, and the 24 to dig deeper into the Creeds and Confessions of the Presbyterian Church. We will discuss issues such as the updated translations, the role of the Creeds and the Confessions in the life of the church, and how, for example, they serve to help us to lead faithful Christian lives, read the Bible well, and love God and our neighbors better.

The class meets from 10:15-11:00 (between the 1st and 2nd services) in the Rec Room.

Contact Theologian-in-Residence Matt Bruce ([email protected]) if you have any questions.
