Maundy Thursday Worship Service

On this night Christians commemorate the supper Jesus shared with his disciples before his crucifixion, when Jesus washed the disciples’ feet and instituted the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper.
During this service, those who wish may come forward for hand washing (in place of foot washing), in imitation of Jesus’ actions and as a response to his new commandment to love one another. As this is the evening of the Last Supper, communion will be observed. At the end of the service, the sanctuary will be stripped (all decorations will be removed or covered), and participants will depart the service in silence.
