Dear Friends,
Think about all the places where kindness begins.
It begins when a child hears, “You are loved.” It begins around a table where people share a meal. It begins when someone takes the time to listen. It begins when we welcome a stranger, check on a friend, teach a child, sing together, serve a neighbor, or simply make room for someone else.
And behind so many of those moments is the generosity of people like you.
For nearly 190 years, First Presbyterian Church of Grand Haven has been a place where people gather to worship God, grow in faith, serve our neighbors, and care for one another. We are able to do that because generation after generation has chosen to give their time, abilities, and financial resources to this community of faith.
This year, we’ve committed ourselves to kindness through our Kind Haven efforts – to be a place where kindness begins and where God’s love is shared with our neighbors. Our annual budget provides the foundation for that ministry, while the generosity of our members and friends allows us to dream, respond, and reach beyond what we could do on our own. Our endowment has also helped us extend our generosity beyond the annual budget, providing additional support for ministry and mission.
As you consider your generosity for the coming year, I invite you to think not simply about what your gift pays for, but about what your gift makes possible.
Your gift helps make kindness possible. Your generosity helps us shape our community into Kind Haven.
Thank you for being part of it.
In Christ,
Pastor Troy
