Estimate of Giving for 2025

Dear Friends,

The rhythm of our life as a church finds us in October once again. It’s Generosity Season at First Presbyterian. It’s the time where we, the members and friends of this church, take stock of God’s blessings in our lives and pledge our commitment to bring a portion of those back to the church to share in ministry together.

This fall we have been reading the gospels as we consider three B-words that help us understand discipleship – believing, becoming, and belonging. As we pledge our financial support of the church this season, I’ll focus on belonging.

What does it mean to belong to Jesus? It means that Jesus loves us and calls us to live like him. It means we are safely held in his arms. It means that no one can steal the joy of salvation from us. Jesus loves us always.

What does it mean to belong to the church? It means that God has gifted us with community, a group of people who know us, love us, challenge us, and pray for us. It means that our lives are shared with each other. It means we bring our gifts – our time, our talents, and our tithes – and we share them in ministry together for Jesus’ sake.

We belong to Jesus. We belong to one another. So, as you read this, I trust you will do so with faith, hope, and love. I believe that we are better together and that our combined generosity towards this ministry will bear fruit this year and beyond.
